VINTAGE

The 2014 growing year began with a very mild, wet winter. Temperatures well above seasonal averages led to budbreak in mid March about three weeks early. Despite this abnormal start to the year, the early budbreak was lost during the exceptionally cool, rainy summer months, which forced our growers to work hard and long. Relatively low temperatures during harvest, which began in the first week of September, meant that ripening was slow and prolonged. In the event, the process continued until the end of October for the later-ripening red varieties. Meticulous selection and lower yields per hectare enabled the red grapes to take advantage of extended ripening and well-timed picking to deliver fresh, fruit-led wines
that offer an intriguing interplay of extract, savouriness and structure.

VINIFICATION

At the end of September only the ripest grapes of the vineyard were selected for delicate wine-making. Fermentation with natural yeast and ageing for 8 months in large casks.

VINEYARD

The vineyards lie at 550-600 m a.s.l. facing East; the soil is mostly limestone with glacial fans and Dolomite'rock slabs. The terrain is loose and well aerated and it ranges from neutral to alkaline.

TASTING NOTES

– with a good aromatic complexity, very mineral and fresh

RECOMMENDATION

This wine pairs well with appetizers, pasta, risotto and fish dishes.
