Details of the location

The vineyards are located in a south-facing basin between 250 and 300 meters above sea level. The soil consists of loamy river alluvium with a large proportion of gravel.

From grape to wine

Maceration takes place at 28 °C with a two-week maceration period, followed by a malolactic fermentation and 12 months of aging in barriques. The wine is lightly filtered before bottling.

The wine in the glass

− rich, brilliant ruby red
− ripe blackberries, wild cherries and licorice on the nose
− medium-bodied on the palate, with perfectly balanced tannins, a pleasing, drinkable wine, finishes with a touch of ripe, sweet fruit

The perfect accompaniment

This Merlot Riserva reveals its full potential when paired with tasty game dishes, juicy roasts, dark meat and strong hard cheeses. It also harmonizes perfectly with aromatic pasta dishes, which complement its rich aromas wonderfully.

The origin of this wine

The Merlot grape variety originated in the Bordeaux region of France and has been known since the 18th century. Today, it is one of the most widely cultivated red grape varieties in the world. Merlot was introduced to Alto Adige towards the end of the 19th century, as French varieties became increasingly popular in Central Europe. Thanks to the mild climate and suitable soils in the lower areas of Alto Adige, the variety adapted well and now produces elegant, fruit-forward red wines with soft tannins.
