Details of the location
The vineyards extend around Lake Kaltern, mainly in south-eastern locations. The soil consists of loamy-sandy limestone gravel, and the microclimate is
characterized by the warm lake weather.
From grape to wine
Vinification begins with a one-week maceration at a controlled temperature of 24 °C, followed by malolactic fermentation. This is followed by 6 months of aging on the fine lees, both in stainless steel and in concrete tanks.

The perfect accompaniment
The Leuchtenberg Kalterersee is perfect for relaxed moments, such as a snack of speck and cheese. It pairs well with starters and typical Alto Adige dishes, such as cheese dumplings. It is also an excellent accompaniment to poultry dishes. Important: Always enjoy Kalterersee slightly chilled.

The origin of this wine
The Kalterersee for us is both reference and identification point: Firstly, there is a large part of our vineyards around the lake, which bear, just as our winery, the name of the village Caldaro. On the other hand also the wine, that is produced from the Vernatsch grapes from the vineyards around the lake, is called „Kalterersee“.
