Details of the location

The vineyards are located on south-facing slopes at an altitude of 300 to 450 meters above sea level. The soil consists mainly of sandy porphyry rock, which retains heat and drains well.

From grape to wine

The wine ferments on the skins at 24 °C with a maceration period of 7 days. This is followed by malolactic fermentation and 4 months of aging on the fine lees in stainless steel tanks.

The wine in the glass

− deep cherry red
− reminiscent of cherries, with a light undertone of bitter almonds and violets
− juicy and voluptuous on the palate, soft and round on the finish

The perfect accompaniment

This St. Magdalener pairs well with various pasta dishes and white meat such as poultry or pork. Its lively acidity and fruity notes make it a versatile companion for a variety of dishes.

The origin of this wine

The Alto Adige St. Magdalener is mainly made from the indigenous Vernatsch (Schiava) grape and blended with a small proportion of Lagrein. It is considered relatively full-bodied and is therefore the most robust wine of the large Vernatsch family.
