The history of Cantina Kaltern dates back to 1900 – and is also the story of a village that has always lived with and through wine. Over the course of more than a century, five independent wineries grew into a strong cooperative, which today brings together around 550 members and cultivates 430 hectares of vineyards.
The key milestones: foundations, mergers, times of crisis and growth – all part of a clear and consistent path toward quality and professionalism. The most significant turning point came in 2016 with the merger of “Erste+Neue” and the former Kellerei Kaltern, forming today’s Cantina Kaltern.
Today, Cantina Kaltern is one of Alto Adige’s leading wine producers. It stands for experience, close-knit community, sustainable structures and an uncompromising commitment to quality – from vineyard to bottle.
But in Kaltern, wine is more than just agriculture. It is culture, identity, and pride. As Alto Adiges’s most renowned wine village, Kaltern is a place where wine shapes everyday life. This deep connection between land, people and tradition continues to define the spirit of our winery.
125 years of Cantina Kaltern is not only an anniversary, but a clear commitment: to our origins, to our community – and to a wine that embodies it all.
